Editor’s Note

Modern Humans?

Centuries ago, we used to rely on the stars, the sun, and the moon to guide our journeys. We used to care for the Earth and its soil because we knew it would provide us with plenty of magnificent fruit.

We used to admire the elders, because through them we could comprehend a world that happened before us. We used to know that animals were companions, partners, friends, and angels on Earth who taught us what unconditional love truly is. We also loved plants… we knew the ones that could heal a temporary ache, as well as those that could cure serious ailments. Most of all, we knew that all the gifts of Mother Earth were sacred.

Somehow as modern humans, we are not capable of seeing or appreciating this wonder. What for? It won’t pay the bills. We believe we are made of something different than what the universe is made of, and we are better for it. We have lost the ability to think for ourselves, to be conscious of our actions (and their consequences), and we have forgotten how to find the truth. We are also no longer interested in loving one another but instead, finding more reasons why we can’t.

The human body is a perfect machine, but we have lost the ability to respect or even understand nature, far less, our own nature or the perfection of our natural being. We prefer to believe that only modern cures will heal modern illnesses, as if technology could heal humanity.

Perhaps it’s time to reevaluate our “modern” thinking and start a new chapter? Yes, perhaps one guided by love, wisdom, freedom, kindness, compassion and hope, but especially nature and its ability to heal itself—if we allow it to do so.

Love, always!
